Visiting & Lodging in Silver Beach
Silver Beach is built for the classic Jersey Shore vacation: rent a house for the week, walk or bike to the ocean, spend time on Barnegat Bay, and use Route 35 to reach nearby food and shopping. Vacation homes are the primary lodging choice, while nearby Lavallette provides traditional inns and motels for shorter stays.
What a Silver Beach Stay Is Like
Silver Beach is a residential barrier-island community rather than a hotel resort. Most visitors stay in privately owned vacation homes, ranging from smaller shore houses to large multi-bedroom properties and lagoonfront rentals with boating access.
The community's unusual advantage is that visitors can combine the Atlantic Ocean with Barnegat Bay recreation. Silver Beach Association maintains the guarded ocean beach as well as a separate bay property with a kayak launch, playground, gazebos and tennis facilities.
Silver Beach Vacation Rentals
Silver Beach has a substantial seasonal rental market. Current 2026 inventory includes properties on Boatman's Road, Silver Beach Road, Fisherman's Road, South Surf Road, Bayberry Road and Heron Road, among other local streets.
Appealing to boaters and paddlers. Ask specifically about dock use, boat size, low-tide depth, kayak storage, safety around the water and any restrictions on marine equipment.
Often provide a balance of ocean and bay access while keeping guests within the quiet residential heart of Silver Beach.
Current rental inventory includes several homes with four, six and even seven bedrooms, making Silver Beach suitable for extended-family and multi-generation vacations.

2026 Silver Beach Badge Guide
Beach-badge planning matters when choosing a Silver Beach rental because the cost depends on whether the property owner is a Silver Beach Association member.
Under current Association rules, discounted renter/guest badges are available to renters or guests of an Association member. Weekly badges run from Saturday at 10:00 AM through the following Friday at 5:30 PM. The general public—including renters of non-member Silver Beach properties—may buy daily badges at the ocean beach.
Ocean Beach & Lifeguards
Silver Beach Association's Atlantic beach is located between Fishermans Road and South Surf Road. The beachfront is divided into areas for swimming, rafts and boogie boards, and surfing/fishing/skimboarding, with volleyball also available.
The Association lists 2026 lifeguard hours as 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM during the season. Swimming outside guarded hours is discouraged and is at the swimmer's own risk.
Separate recreation areas allow surfers, skimboarders, boogie-board users and swimmers to share the beach more safely.
The ocean beach opened for the season on Friday, June 19, 2026 and is scheduled through Labor Day.
Barnegat Bay Recreation
The Silver Beach Association's bay property sits along Route 35 South between North Lagoon Road and Silver Beach Road. It offers several useful recreational features for visitors staying in the community.
Convenient Barnegat Bay access for paddling and exploring the protected bay waters.
A family-friendly alternative when younger children need a break from the ocean.
Shaded gathering areas make the bay side useful even when a beach day is not the plan.
A tennis court is located at the bay property, but current Association rules limit court use to Association tennis members.
